FEATURED SPEAKER: ALAN BRIGHTMAN
Senior Policy Director, Special Communities, Yahoo! Inc.
Alan Brightman received a Ph.D. in Education from Harvard and an Honorary Ph.D. in Science from the University of Massachusetts. Since joining Yahoo! in May 2006, he has been responsible for ensuring that Yahoo! provides an accessible user experience for all individuals, focusing especially on children and adults with disability and chronically ill children. Prior to joining Yahoo!, Brightman founded and led the Teenage Division for AT&T labs, developing new telecommunications products and services for teens and young adults. Earlier, Brightman founded Apple Computer's Worldwide Disability Solutions Group and served as its director for 13 years. He was also the executive producer of the musical called PULSE: The Rhythm of Life, based on a website that he created with Apple for seriously ill children, and was the producer of an award-winning PBS television series called Feeling Free. Brightman's books for children and for adults have been translated into 7 languages. His most recent book is titled DisabilityLand.
