FEATURED SPEAKER: MICHAEL JOHN CARLEY
Executive Director, GRASP
Diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome in 2000, Michael John Carley serves as Executive Director of the Global and Regional Asperger Syndrome Partnership (http://www.grasp.org), the largest organization comprised of adults on the autism spectrum. He has spoken at conferences, hospitals, universities, and health care organizations, and has appeared in the media widely, most notably in the New York Times, Washington Post, NY Newsday, the London Times, the Chronicle of Philanthropy, the Chronicle of Higher Education, NEWSWEEK OnAir, Psychology Today, and radio appearances on NPR programs. His book, Asperger's From the Inside Out: A Supportive and Practical Guide for Anyone with Asperger's Syndrome, is due out in April 2008.
Until 2001, Carley was the UN Representative of Veterans for Peace, Inc. Prior to 2001, he was a playwright who enjoyed 15 productions and 10 readings of his plays in New York. Today, in addition to running GRASP, he also moonlights as a backup classical music host for NY Public Radio (WNYC).
