DAN FLOCKHART
FEATURED SPEAKER: DAN FLOCKHART
Author, Fantasy Sports and Mathematics Series

Dan Flockhart is the author of the Fantasy Sports and Mathematics Series, hands-on programs that give students opportunities to manage "fantasy" teams of professional athletes. The programs are based on football, baseball, basketball, and soccer, and have been featured widely in the media, including ESPN. Flockhart taught middle school mathematics for 11 years in the San Francisco Bay Area and has over 25 years experience playing fantasy sports. His intuition led him to believe that math and sports statistics could dovetail into meaningful curriculum that could motivate students and increase academic achievement. Recent empirical data indicates this is the case, as fantasy sports are making a significant impact on student achievement. He is currently working on a documentary film that will demonstrate the benefits of fantasy sports in learning environments. More information on fantasy sports research, the film, and the programs can be found at www.fantasysportsmath.com.
