Founder, the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace

Jane Goodall began her study of chimpanzees in Tanzania in 1960, her work becoming a foundation of primatological research. In 1977, Goodall established the Jane Goodall Institute, which is a global leader in efforts to protect chimpanzees and their habitats. In 2002, Secretary-General Kofi Annan named Dr. Goodall a United Nations "Messenger of Peace."
